A gunman wearing a sweatshirt adorned with an American flag shot two men in the Bronx Wednesday afternoon, then fled the scene, police sources said.

One victim, a 54-year-old New York City Housing Authority employee, was struck in the left ankle. The other, a 21-year-old resident of the Forest Houses, was hit in the hip and torso.

EMS rushed both men to Lincoln Hospital and are expected to survive.

The 1:05 p.m. shooting happened on Tinton Ave., at the Forest Houses in Longwood.

NYCHA Chair Shola Olatoye said “The disturbing news that a hard-working custodian and a young resident were victims of a shooting at one of our developments is deeply upsetting. The safety of our employees and residents is our paramount concern and our thoughts are with those hurt today.”

It wasn’t immediately clear who the gunman was aiming for or why.

He is black, has dreadlocks and was wearing an American flag sweater.

He was last seen running toward E. 165th St.

Police recovered ballistic evidence at the scene.

Olatoye said the agency is cooperating with the NYPD investigation.
