Watch: NYPD officer nonchalantly makes National Anthem seem easy

School Safety Officer belts out our national anthem Staten Island officer has the voice of an opera star

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- While on a photo assignment this week at PS 36, I was told the new safety officer at the school's front desk was an opera singer.

So I asked her to sing something.

Without hesitation she belted out part of the Star Spangled Banner. Bella!

Daniela Taormina's mother, Vincenza, happened to be visiting and offered some history on the officer with the amazing voice. She has been singing for more than 30 years and toured the world with her father Giuseppe Taormina, also an opera singer. Both father and daughter have received honorary titles from their native country of Italy.

Today she is a safety officer at the Annadale elementary school. She sings for the NYPD on occasion and says she loves this job as well.

Play the video above to have a listen, and prepare to be impressed.
