Teen stabbed during school brawl

A 16-year-old boy was stabbed in the side during a bloody melee inside a Queens high school Tuesday morning, cops said.

A group of teens were fighting when the teen was stabbed with a knife around 11 a.m. inside John Browne High School in Flushing, Queens, police said. The teen was taken to New York- Presbyterian Hospital in Queens in stable condition.

Police who responded to the school arrested a 17-year-old boy and two 18-year-old men. No charges had been filed as of late afternoon and the reason for the fracas was unclear.

Police recovered a folding knife at the scene of the fight.

The head of school safety agents union, Gregory Floyd of Teamsters Local 237, said if it were up to him there would be more metal detectors in schools like John Bowne to screen weapons and protect students.

“There would be better security, not lax security,” Floyd said.
