When School Safety Agent and Sloan Public Service Award winner Candy Rodriguez first stepped into the lobby of the Joan of Arc Public School, there were three fights going on at the same time.
“I said, ‘Ooh, this is not the place for me.’ Forty-four years later and I’m still here,” she said during the May 23 Sloan ceremony in Cooper Union’s Great Hall.
