At Susan Wagner HS town hall, parents voice concern, while officials detail safety measures

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Susan Wagner High School officials and the commanding officer of the NYPD’s 122nd Precinct held a town hall Monday evening to inform families on a litany of safety measures that have been implemented in the wake of numerous high-profile incidents that have taken place in the vicinity of the campus in recent weeks.

The meeting, which was led by Principal David Cugini, came after a planned walkout was held by hundreds of students at the high school Monday morning in response to safety concerns voiced by students, parents and staff. Many students carried signs, some reading “We Matter,” “Do Better” and “Prioritize Student Safety.”
