Two wounded in shooting at Brooklyn pool

Two Brooklyn maintenance workers were wounded today when they got caught in the crossfire of a wild shooting at a public pool, authorities said.

The New York City Housing employees – a man and a woman – were sitting on a bench when they were blasted at about 11:40 a.m. today at Howard Pool in the Howard Houses in East New York.

One was hit in the leg and the other in stomach as horrified kids looked on.

“It was crazy, complete mayhem,” said one witness. “Bullets were flying kids were screaming they just shot the place up.”

The trouble started at about 11 a.m., when a dispute – which residents said was drug-related – broke out among several area residents.

One man came back about 40 minutes later and started shooting at one of his foes, firing between four and six shots, witnesses said.

One Canarsie mother, who declined to be named, said the gunman began shooting near her child.

“The kid just froze! I grabbed him and we ran off!” she said, describing the terrifying scene.

Cops said that they later took one man into custody in the attack.

Authorities said both victims were brought to Brookdale Hospital in stable condition, and that a third person may have also been shot.

“A young fool and his gun ruined a day for some poor kids,” said Jocko Lindley, 61, a resident. “It’s a shame.”
