On December 7, 2023, a ceremony was held in honor of the 69 graduates of Local 237’s “Fundamentals of Heating Operations” course given by the Education and Training Department.
By completing this intense 9-month training, these candidates are now eligible to take the Heating Plant Technician civil service exam. They will eventually elevate to the title of Heating Plant Technician in the New York City Housing Authority.
President Gregory Floyd, Executive Board members, Housing Division staff, and NYCHA faculty offered touching words of encouragement to the group. In addition, President Floyd personally handed out awards to the top scoring students. After the ceremony, students enjoyed a lovely dinner, good music, photo props, and a big slice of cake. A great time was had by all!
