Ms. Ooft has been a member of Local 237 for 25 years and has served as a Shop Steward as well as a Grievance Representative. Ms. Ooft believes union membership is important for the job. She notes that Union members help each other and that the union helps with learning the job,  health issues and grievances.

Ms. Ooft works with a wide range of individuals, from police to prisoners, from crime victims to the public, making her job interesting, informative and satisfying.           
                                                                          
Ms. Ooft likes to utilize all that is offered in NYC, especially theater. She spends time with her family and travels with her mother, a retired hospital nurse. Working in a union job with security and good wages allows her to enjoy NYC and travel.
