President's Award Winners

Charles Newton

Superintendent
Fort Independence Houses
Housing Division

Mr. Newton has been a member of Local 237 for 16 years. He started as a caretaker and worked his way up to Superintendent. For him, being part of the brotherhood is the most rewarding part of union membership. He finds his job very rewarding because he is making a difference in peoples’ lives. “When you make a repair and fix something, you make people smile.” Making life better for the residents makes him smile too.

Mr. Newton is an avid fisherman. He has traveled up and down the entire east coast in search of the perfect fishing spot and never tires of trying to find it.
