So many of our members go above and beyond the call of duty, performing acts of heroism, ingenuity, kindness and generosity that demonstrate their professionalism and heart. They were willing to go that extra mile, and by so doing, made a difference in someone’s life. Here are some of the pictures and stories they want to share:

KEEPING THE COMMUNITY SAFE

SAVED A LIFE
Hospital Police Officer Tomlinson (l), Detective Campbell (not pictured) and Captain Sampson (r) responded to an emergency inside the Emergency Room at Woodhull Hospital. Upon arrival they realized a patient had taken his fist and punched through the glass door severing two arteries in his right arm. Officer Tomlinson and Captain Sampson put gowns on and began to hold the patient while the medical staff attempted to stop the extensive bleeding coming from the patient’s right arm.

COMMUNITY CHAMPION AWARD
Congratulations to SSA Robertha Saunders on being honored with the Community Champion Award by Uniquely Me Creative Arts, which is an organization that focuses on improving sensory processing for special needs children through creative arts while supporting their family with resources. SSA Saunders is also an Explorer Advisor for Post #2818 and has always been involved in community outreach, giving back, and advocating for young people.
