b'responsible to. I was also a delegate for the 27th Convention and the 28th Convention. Both of those conventions were inLas Vegas. They are basically five years apart and it has to do with representing the membership. Carl asked me again forthe 27th, along with Greg Floyd, who was the VP at the time. Then Greg asked me for the 28th Convention, which was in2011. For the four conventions, the current president of this Locals slate prevailed winning the convention delegate election. Were there any other high points or exciting things at these other conventions?Yes. One of the highlights was Joe Biden speaking at the convention. The actor, Mr. Danny DeVito, spoke. The actorfrom television dramatic series 24, Kiefer Sutherland spoke. You had a lot of different people speaking at these conventions. At one of the conventions, Carl was running for VP of the region with the International. I forget the year, but we decided as the biggest delegation to make a statement of support for Carl who didn\'t know about it. We were 30something delegates.It\'s awesome when you march into this hall. People look up, they notice. There was a long marchdown the halls of the Paris Convention Center in Las Vegas. We knew Carl was running, so we started yelling for Carl to be nominated as VP. Even Carl was shocked; he was so happy that we did that for him. We were so boisterous, it echoedthrough this whole place. People were wondering what was going on and we were yelling: "Carl Haynes Hoffa! CarlHaynesHoffa!" It was a moment in time for our president. We appreciated what he did for us and we wanted to dosomething for him. That was a highlight. That was great and he became VP.Danny DeVito and Kiefer Sutherland: What did they say to you? How were they connected? They appreciated the union members. They had stories about union members that helped them, stage crews, workcrews and stuff like that. They appreciated the people that worked for them on the sets and out in the field. Without theunion members, where would they be? They didn\'t take the union workers for granted. And, they\'re members of theScreen Actors Guild. I had my wife there one time. She was like: "Whoa!" I would tell her about the conventions, but youdon\'t appreciate it unless you\'re there. I even took my oldest son there one time when he was in his 20s.Is there anything else you want to tell me about?I\'ve been blessed and this Local has been very good to me and good to my unit that I represented. I hope that theguys realize it. I know it\'s a struggle all the time and they may not get the whole message, but they should appreciate it.Tell me a little more about your background. When and where were you born?I was born in Brooklyn, New York in1952.I have one older brother. When did you get married?I got married in 1975. We have two sons. One was born in 1981 and one was born in 1986.Where did you go to high school?I went to high school at St. Augustine\'s High School on Park Place. Unfortunately, I never graduated from the school. It was Catholic and they were closing the school. We were the last class of the school. I was a junior and they closed theschool. There were no classes behind us and the class in front of us graduated. We had to leave the school as juniors.111 '
