We sharein the joys and struggles that all the brothers and sisters from diversebackgrounds experience. We learn about the past and how todaysmembers are able to enjoy better working conditions and benefitsthan in years past. This Union has provided stability for public sectorworkers. We are grateful that the Oral History Project has been ableto capture this history and enlighten us about how we got to wherewe are today.Since the beginning in 1952, members have had to struggle andfight for better working conditions and benefits. It is through thehard work over the years that todays members enjoy the benefitthey have. Retirees are proud of what they were able to accomplish.28 years ago, Nancy B. True started documenting their stories ofsolidarity, pride and struggles by setting up the Retiree DivisionsOral History Project. Each members experience is unique, yet allare part of the bigger picture of the union for all. What the chartermembers lived through is very different than what a member who started in 1990 experienced.By listening to all the stories, we can piece together the history of the Union. There will be new stories to tell as members deal with todays challenges as City employees. They too will have to struggle. Being part of the brotherhood will lead them through thechallenges. These stories will also become part of the Local 237 history. We are grateful to all the retirees who have taken the time to share their experiences asUnion members be it from 60 years ago or 6 years ago. It is all part of our family history. We lookforward to continuing the project and adding stories as time goes on. We are also very grateful toour President Gregory Floyd and Vice President Ruben Torres as well as the entire executiveboard for their support of the project. We are delighted to be able to share this wealth of Local 237 history with you. In Solidarity,Julie Kobi and Susan MilisitsCo-Directors, Retiree Division, Teamster Local 2375 '
